Divinity of Jesus Christ !
Often times people use this against the divinity of Jesus;
John 14:28 "....for My Father is greater than I"
John 14:28 "....for My Father is greater than I"
Let's discuss the reason behind this statement from Jesus.
There are many verses in the bible that alludes to Jesus's divinity.
There are many verses in the bible that alludes to Jesus's divinity.
For example;
John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Through these verses Jesus declares that He is The God of Abraham, that He was the Word made flesh and that The Word is God !
Then why did Jesus say the Father is greater than Him ?
We must also know that technically, Jesus is The Father !
So why the distinction ? The distinction is simple, The Father had to take a bodily form into our physical realm from His spiritual realm to redeem us from Satan ! To be our kinsmen redeemer, to live our lives and to take all our sin upon Him !

Now let's get back to answering the question we started with and to do that, we have to go back to Moses' time.
Let's read;
Numbers 21:4-9
Numbers 21:4-9
Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.” So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died. Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
Isn't it weird ? People healed by gazing a serpent ? Why ?
This is God's poetry. You see, when Jesus (Our Father from heaven made flesh) took upon Him all our sins, He technically became the sinful serpent. So just as Jesus was crucified on a cross with all our sins in Him, and when we look upon the cross and acknowledge the sacrifice, we are saved, so is the fiery bronze serpent (representing Jesus) when the Israelites looked upon it, they were healed.
This is the reason why Jesus said The Father is greater than Him because He understood His mission and what He is going to take upon Him to complete the mission which is becoming sin Himself which makes Him unholy (only until He crushes Satan and resurrects and lives forevermore) !!! . Not because He is not God, but because of what He was going to do and accomplish. Just a titbit, why a fiery serpent ? Because Jesus set Satan on fire when He was on the cross !! Hallelu-Yah (Praise be to God) !! Amen !!
